Aloha Kauai

Aloha Kaua’i ‘Ohana,

We hope you are well. We do miss you. In our service to our churches in Mexico, we always thought of you. “That couple reminds me of Pirate and Poco, those lady's service hearts remind us of Kim and Patricia, the gentleman talking story with the homeless guy…Brian would do that, etc“. I can go on and on.

When I started at my last church, the board was very nervous that I would either “steeple-jack” or start a new fellowship. I promised them that their fears were misplaced. I stayed true to my word and left with honor. I feel that my original promise is fulfilled and we have now been off the island for over six months. I know it might seem weird but it is a promise I felt to be important.

With that shared, so many things have not gone the way we had hoped and prayed for on the North Shore. There is no need to go down the list of what has sadly gone away. I would like to create a list of what is to come, God willing and people helping.

First, the joy and I admit it, pride, I hold in what we have and continue to accomplish in Mexico is intact. The truth is, they can do it without our boots on the ground at this juncture. We will continue to donate, disciple, and vision cast with FaceTime and visits. Our Mexico fellowship will be ready to plant two more churches by summer, we will assist.

We will assist from….Kauai.

We have been tasked to create something special and new on the North Shore. A ministry that reaches all areas of the island. A church body that is not contained by walls or traditions but is based on the command in Matthew “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit”.I have a dream of a church that shows aloha in its truest form, Aloha ke Akua. I have a dream of a people that connect, serve, and grow together. I have a dream of a ministry that looks to the potential of what can be instead of what cannot. I have a dream of a church that shines brightly in the community, where all are truly welcomed and the Word of God is taught boldly and with relevance. I have a dream of worship music floating like the waves spray all over Hanalei and beyond. It is a dream that can be accomplished, it can be done by us through God’s power and delight.

We have a plan and we have the excitement, experience, and desire to do this. What we need is you. I am writing to you because we have made a small difference on the island before, now, let’s go big! In a time and place where life changes so quickly, we are asking for prayer and commitment to start this church. We are asking for a two-year commitment. We are asking you to help create something never seen on this island.

We will be coming to Kauai on Sunday for three weeks. We would like to sit down with each of you, talk, and pray over this. At the end of our stay, we would like to gather as a whole, discuss, and see where we are.

We also are directing the Fourth Annual Hanalei Community Christmas Parade. Part of our ministry on Kauai has been in the Police Chaplaincy, we have the green light to fully revamp the whole program going forward, with that said, the Chief of Police is our Santa this year. it is amazing how everything is falling into place. But not, when God leads.

The goal is to start a Sunday Service this January. To start a fresh new year of joy and worship. If you desire to be part, please let us know. We also ask that you write down what you feel a Biblical church is and could be in Kauai. Write down areas of special interest and also areas in which you would like to assist and or lead. Think inside and outside the box. Well, there is no “box”!

God gave us a name for our ministry many months ago, Nā Palena Kea. “Without walls or borders”. This church will reflect that in its entirety.

Join us! Whether you are a full-time, part-time resident or visitor who holds the island in your heart, help bring revival to Kauai. God will smile on the North Shore again.

We have you in our hearts.
